The challenge

Discreet cameras are changing sensitive spaces.

Smart glasses can look like ordinary eyewear. In swimming pools, changing rooms, gyms or saunas, it is therefore often difficult to tell whether a device includes a camera.

SmartglassGuard complements house rules, staff training and visual checks with a technical early-warning layer. When a supported signal pattern is detected, staff can respond in a targeted and measured way.

Roadmap 2026/2027

From first hardware to a connected solution.

Development is progressing step by step: first a functional prototype, then stationary and mobile variants, followed by a connected multi-module system.

  1. First prototype

    A first functional setup for testing the core detection mechanism and local warning signals.

  2. First stationary version

    A fixed version for continuous use at entrances, reception areas or other defined control points.

  3. First mobile version

    A battery-powered portable variant for patrols, changing locations and flexible sensitive areas.

  4. Mesh / multi-module version

    Multiple modules are intended to share detections with each other and alert a central master unit. The exact communication method – for example local Wi-Fi and, where appropriate, the internet – will be defined during development.

These dates are current development targets and may change depending on testing, hardware availability and technical findings.

Frequently asked questions

What you should know before a pilot deployment.

Does SmartglassGuard detect every pair of smart glasses?

No. Only devices whose transmitted radio characteristics are known and technically detectable are supported. Manufacturers can change device behaviour, and Bluetooth signals can be weakened by people, walls or interference.

Which smart-glasses models are currently targeted?

The current development status is focused on Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Snapchat Spectacles. Additional manufacturers and models are being worked on and will be added step by step. Actual detection can vary depending on the model and software version.

Can the device tell whether a recording is taking place?

No. A detection indicates a potentially compatible nearby device. It is not proof that the camera is active or that a recording is taking place.

How should a warning be interpreted?

A warning is not proof. Detection is based on radio characteristics and may miss devices or identify other products from the same manufacturer. SmartglassGuard also cannot reliably determine whether recording is in progress.

A notification should therefore always be assessed calmly and handled according to clear internal procedures. The system does not replace house rules, trained staff or a legal assessment.

Are personal data stored?

The core function is intended as local signal analysis without a user account or mandatory cloud dependency. The final technical and data-protection design will be documented before productive deployment.

What is the detection range?

The typical detection range is approximately 5 to 15 metres. Indoors, walls, people and other obstacles generally reduce the range compared with outdoor use.

Is the product already available?

SmartglassGuard is currently in the development and pilot phase. Facilities interested in an early practical test can submit a non-binding enquiry.

How much does SmartglassGuard cost?

Pricing is currently available on request and depends on the variant, quantity, enclosure, power supply and required integration.
